MATCHING CLUTCH & WEDGE BOOTIES

Hi everyone. I decided to add photos of what I did with the leftover fur from the long coat I cut in my A Re-Create of Yigal Azrouel's Pre-Fall Collection 2012 Leopard Coat post. I purchased these booties for 9.99. They originally had really cheap grayish black faux fur on them. I ripped the old off and added the leftover cheetah print fur in place of it. I'm still really not feeling the booties. Everytime I look at them I think of that "Apple Bottom jeans boots with the fur" song.....and I HHHHHHATTE that song! I want to replace the fur with something metal. We'll see....Anywho..I THEN, proceeded to create a hand muff. I used to LOVE THESE THINGS! As a child, I had one to match every coat. I think my mom liked playing "dress-up" more than I do now. lol
Well, in the midst of sewing, my needle on my sewing machine broke. That's when I thought about how this Atlanta Winter weather, felt more like a Manhattan's Spring. I probably wouldn't get a chance to wear a hand muff anyway, so I settled for a clutch.
The Hello Kitty cardigan is a story of it's own. I had the HAAAARDEST time trying to find this cardigan from Forever 21's Limited Edition. My daughter wanted this for Christmas (we both love Hello Kitty). Anywho, I searched HIGH and LOW to find this sweater since it was sold out. I found it *exhale*!!! Soooo, fast forward to now...It's on the BRINK of February and my daughter has been voted "Best Dressed" of her class. She asks me to help her put something together and the 1st thing came to mind is this Hello Kitty cardigan that I have NOT seen her wear YET! So, I ask "Where is that HK sweater?" She replied, "I'll get it." So, I stood there as she searched every drawer, and the closet. I think this is where my "mother's intuition" kicked in. I kinda figured she had it stuffed somewhere *translates into 'I HATE IT'* .Anywho, she found it in the VERY bottom of the "NOT WEARING EVER" pile.Sooooo, I CONFISCATED IT! It's now MINE! Although it's a small and I'm busting at the seams in it.....SHE'S NEVER GETTING IT BACK *insert evil laugh*.
So, here are the photos.
Disclaimer: I only put on the coat, shoes, and clutch for a visual. I wouldn't overload on the animal print or fur like that.lol

PARIS FASHION WEEK 2012

I ran across these photos of Christian Dior's Haute Couture 2012 on HARPER'S BAZAAR 'S   fan page, and LITERALLY fell into a FASHION INDUCED COMA! Not only were the garments feminine and flowy, but they were EXTREMELY reminiscent to lavish gowns worn in the 50's and 60's (à la Lana Turner). From "HUGE BOWS, CRYSTAL EMBELLISHMENTS, and ENDLESS TULLE, to the SCANTILY CLAD, SOFT CHIFFON, and SHEER BODICES....I LOVED IT ALL! Here are a few images of Christian Dior's Haute Couture 2012! HOLD ON TO YOUR SEATS!

LALA ANTHONY: CELEBRITY LOOK FOR LESS!

Okay, so I was browsing a magazine and came across an image of Lala Anthony in LaQuan Smith's LQS Eclipse Collection. I recreated the ensemble with $6 scissors, needle and thread. I SEARCHED FOR OVER AN HOUR in the thrift store for a houndstooth top. I used to see tops with this pattern ALL THE TIME! As soon as I'm "SPECIFICALLY" looking for one, there's not ONE in sight! lol. The closest I could find was a striped, lycra top ($2.29). I lucked up and found a long Scott McClintock satin formal skirt ($3.29). Originally, it was long with an even longer train. I started by cutting a little of the top because it was hip length. I hemmed it, and started on the skirt next. The skirt, I cut in the shape of an upside down "U". Cutting it this way allowed the hem to fall at graduated lengths. I added my own shoes (from Payless, $11) and my own patent leather belt ($1). To view lookbook or shop LQS...visit his site,

              HERE'S LALA ANTHONY'S LQS ENSEMBLE:

Lala's LQS CONSTELLATION SKIRT is $495 ALONE!

HERE IS MY VERSION OF LALA ANTHONY'S OUTFIT

MY TOTAL FOR EVERYTHING $17.58 *SHOES AND BELT INCLUDED* !!

A Re-Create of Yigal Azrouel's Pre-Fall Collection 2012 Leopard Coat

While browsing Glamour Magazine's page, I came across a STUNNING leopard coat by Yigal Azrouel. I drooled over it and HAD TO HAVE IT! Then, I remembered the coat I had bagged up in a bag of coats I was donating to The Kidney Foundation. Needless to say, I WENT BACK IN THE BAG AND RETRIEVED IT! ***BAD ME!*** I DID find one of my fiance's coats to replace it with, though.lol My fiance bought me this coat for Valentine's Day about 5 or 6 years ago. I forgot to take a before shot of the coat, but you can view the "BEFORE" in my latest tutorial. I have something planned for the scraps leftover,BUT, my space filled up on my card while recording the tutorial for that....ANNNNNND my sewing machine's needle broke while sewing it! So, NOW I have to figure out how to replace it...but I'm going to just hand sew it for now.

                                      HERE'S MY VERSION:
                                                                     COAT: XOXO
                                                                 DRESS: MADE BY ME
                                                                SHOES: SHOELAND

COOL BEANS JEANS FOR LITTLE "GREEN"

Hi, Vixens! I wanted to share a tip on getting "Cool Beans Jeans" for a fraction of the retail price. My pre-teen daughter wanted some "COOL BEAN JEANS". After scouring the net for a pair of "AFFORDABLE" unique jeans to no avail, I decided to create a pair. The jeans she wanted were OVER $150!! We don't have money like that! If we DID have that kind of mulah...I doubt if I'd shed $150 big ones for one pair of jeans that she probably wouldn't wear more than 6 months! So, WHAT DID I DO??? I grabbed $10 (almost ALWAYS my budget, lol) headed over to the thrift store and picked up 3 pairs of jeans ($6 TOTAL), stopped by Dollar Tree for a gallon of bleach, and a bleach pen ($2), and headed home. We already had sandpaper, scissors and paint at home. Here's what we came up with:

                                     INSPIRATION: $1500 DESIGNER BALMAIN JEANS

                                                  $2 THRIFT STORE JEANS

                                          WRITING WITH BLEACH PIN

WRAP AROUND & TIE OFF WITH TWINE

WASHED WITH BLEACH FOR 20 MINUTES

VOILA!!My Puddin in Walmart rocking her DIY jeans!

Here are the others we created:

Return of "THE GOACH"

Okay, so here's the story. My 9 year-old (at the time) daughter and I are in the mall, she begged for this fanny pack (which she thought was Coach). After minutes of trying to convince her that it was in fact a "GOACH"...she insisted on buying it. She later wore it out with her friends. I guess her friends must've told her that it was a "GOACH" and I never saw it again. Fast forward 2 years later. I'm helping my daughter organize her closet...and GUESS WHAT WE FOUND?? You guessed it...the dreaded "GOACH"!! She tosses it in the "donate" pile...and I couldn't BEAR the thought of someone getting a hold of that ugly thing! So before donating it, I went into my handy "Twisted Bin" and picked up a few bottles of acrylic paint and tape. I spray painted the "leather flap first, let dry, then taped it off. Next, I doused and drizzled the bag with paint...let it dry, and VOILA!! It went from "No Ma'am" to "Hot Damn" in minutes! lol

INTRODUCTION: The Emancipation of The Twisted Vixen

Hello everyone! Welcome to my BLOG! I'm EXCITED to embark on this new journey and delighted to have you join me for the ride. Ever since I was little girl, I've ALWAYS loved fashion, decorating, crafting...almost ANYTHING you can think of regarding those categories (from yard sales to the BLUE LIGHT SPECIALS at Kmart, lol). I've always loved pretty things...and making "not so pretty" things GORGEOUS!  As I got older, I learned that those things cost MONEY! My 1st apartment, I purchased EVERYTHING in it with little no help. Thanks to YARD SALES, THRIFT STORES, and my mom's attic, I furnished the entire apartment for under $500 (including 2 bedrooms)! I then found out that it doesn't take much money to get the look you want to achieve. Here are a few photos of my very 1st apartment in 1997.This is were the "TWISTATION" began!

Photobucket

The Living Room: $200 for everything shown (minus the mirror...my mom gave it to me from my childhood home..I've ALWAYS loved that mirror!) I used to think the sunbeams surrounding it were PEOPLE! lol

Photobucket

Dining Room : I paid $100 for this set from an estate sale...not the typical dining room set...but I fell in LOVE with it!

Photobucket
The Bedroom: I got this AND the bed (not shown) for $100

Though, this is just the HOME portion of my "TWISTATION", the FASHION part began as early as 9 years old. I LOVED dressing up in my mother's old clothes. I would actually crawl and sift through our dusty (understatement) attic to find them. Once, I found something brightly colored or PINK, I'd take it down, wash it, and sometimes chop them up to make them MY OWN. *LONG SIGH* Gosh, I miss those carefree days!! Stick around for MORE FASHION tips, HOME DECORATING TIPS, BEAUTY TIPS, and any other tips I can come up with! <3
